- 1/2 c Butter; softened
- 3/4 c Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1 c Flour
- 1/2 ts Baking soda
- 1/2 ts Ground nutmeg
- 1/2 ts Cinnamon
- 2 c Peeled chopped apples
- 1/2 c Chopped walnuts

- 1/2 c Packed brown sugar
- 2 tb Cornstarch
- 1/2 c Light corn syrup
- 1/4 c Cream or canned milk
- 1/4 c Butter
- 1 Egg; beaten
Preparation Method
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease an 8" square baking pan.
Cake:
Cream butter and sugar; beat in egg. Blend flour, baking soda, nutmeg and cinnamon; combine with butter. Stir in apples and walnuts; transfer to pan and bake 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tests done.
Caramel Sauce:
Stir brown sugar and cornstarch together in a pan. Mix in remaining ingredients and cook, stirring, until thickened. Serve warm.
How can your recipe require a square baking pan, yet your cake was clearly made in a Bundt?!
