Apple Cake with Caramel Sauce

Ingredient -
  • 1/2 c Butter; softened
  • 3/4 c Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 c Flour
  • 1/2 ts Baking soda
  • 1/2 ts Ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 ts Cinnamon
  • 2 c Peeled chopped apples
  • 1/2 c Chopped walnuts

MMMMM-----------------------CARAMEL SAUCE-------------
  • 1/2 c Packed brown sugar
  • 2 tb Cornstarch
  • 1/2 c Light corn syrup
  • 1/4 c Cream or canned milk
  • 1/4 c Butter
  • 1 Egg; beaten

Preparation Method

Preheat oven to 350°. Grease an 8" square baking pan.

Cake:

Cream butter and sugar; beat in egg. Blend flour, baking soda, nutmeg and cinnamon; combine with butter. Stir in apples and walnuts; transfer to pan and bake 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tests done.

Caramel Sauce:

Stir brown sugar and cornstarch together in a pan. Mix in remaining ingredients and cook, stirring, until thickened. Serve warm.

  1. How can your recipe require a square baking pan, yet your cake was clearly made in a Bundt?!
